How the production of Baglioni tanks has changed over the years

Baglioni is the Italian industrial group specializing in the design and production of pressure vessels and the development of customized solutions for various applications. Below we recount the major milestones that have led Baglioni, in just over 50 years, to become a world leader in pressure vessel manufacturing.

Let us go into detail.

Baglioni pressure tank production: the origins

The company was founded in 1968 under the name “C.M. Metallic Containers Srl.”

It had a small number of employees and produced very simple pressure vessels without any accessories.

“In these early years it was the End Customers who completed the product ,” explains Maura Baglioni, Group President, ” customizing it specifically and according to their needs, through welding and testing processes at their own expense.

It was the subsequent development of in-housedesign and engineering activities that led Baglioni to abandon the role of a simple supplier and become a true Partner for Companies that needed this type of product.

From that point on, the Company began to supply finished and customized tanks , which were tested at the plant by appointed inspectors and shipped to Customers ready for use.

This corporate “turnaround” greatly increased productivity, so much so that the original plant, established in San Pietro Mosezzo (Novara), soon proved too small to support the strong new production demands.

In those years Alfredo Baglioni, the company’s founder, then signed a new Partnership and opened a new Plant in Casale Monferrato, in the province of Alessandria, known today as the CSC (Costruzioni Serbatoi Collaudati) production unit.

“The idea of rationalizing the work, with the inclusion of machines set up to make larger vessels and more specific products ,” Maura Baglioni continues, ” quickly proved to be a smart choice that allowed us to greatly expand our Italian market and go on to conquer the European market as well.

A forward-looking vision, combined with international growth, the highest quality of production and an ever-increasing ability to specialize, are the skills that Baglioni has brought to bear and that have decreed the Group’s success.

Today Baglioni is a well-known, established and competitive company worldwide, with nearly 1,000 employees and 10 factories on 3 different continents.

Baglioni pressure tank production certifications.

One of Baglioni’s great efforts, which required commitment and great preparation, was obtaining all the Certifications necessary to operate in the industry.

“This goal had two main purposes,” Maura Baglioni further specifies, “On the one hand, to affirm the excellence of our design, our production cycle and quality control to ensure products in line with applicable European Directives and major International Standards. On the other hand, anticipating the needs of our Clients by researching possible new markets to target.”

The first three Baglioni Certifications came between 1984 and 1986.

First the ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers), which is essential for selling pressure vessels in the U.S., followed by Certification forexporting products to Australia.

Next came the Israelian Standard Regulation for the Israeli market, a certification that made Baglioni the only Company in the industry in Europe that can sell in this country.

The year 1989 marked another milestone in this important journey, with the achievement of CE certification for distribution in Europe.

In the years that followed, the Group obtained all the Certifications necessary to be able to sell and export to China, the Eurasian area and 113 other countries around the world.
A pioneering philosophy aimed at quality, safety and excellence that has taken Baglioni to the top of the global pressure vessel market.

Internationalization in the production of Baglioni pressure tanks

“The internationalization strategy of our Company,” Maura Baglioni concludes, ” was desired first of all in order to be closer to our Customers in the world.

A decision made after careful evaluation of the cost of transporting the tanks, which, being bulky and large-volume products, required a high expense.

Thus, the need was to be able to reduce product transportation costs through international expansion that provided greater efficiency in the distribution process.

A push for internationalization that has enabled the company to grow and diversify its offerings in a highly competitive global market.

Future plans and sustainable growth for Baglioni production

The Baglioni Group’s main goal for the immediate future is sustainable growth.

“Sustainability not only from an environmental point of view,” explains Marco Tartaglino, Baglioni’s development manager, ” but also from the point of view of internal business processes, to give continuity to the family business.

At the production level, Baglioni aims to develop its production of STAINLESS STEEL vessels destined for large industries in very important markets, such as pharmaceutical and food.

Another area on which the Group is devoting its attention isgreen hydrogen, to meet the challenges ahead in the coming decades.

A desire to grow, improve and specialize its production that today makes Baglioni the ideal choice for Companies seeking a cutting-edge, competitive and innovative Partner for the construction of their pressure vessels.
